Frequently Asked Questions
Most of the time, you may be required by your employment, university or school to do a particular course(s). Please check with them which the course is required and check if that course is available in our Courses page. Often, you may be required to complete multiple courses so check out our Combo Courses as well!
If you just want to learn first aid basics out of interest, we recommend Provide First Aid HLTAID011 as a basic qualification otherwise, if it’s because you want to know general first aid as a parent or carer then we recommend our First Aid for Parents and Carers (FAFPAC) course or if you want recognised qualifications as a carer, then we recommend Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting HLTAID012 or to the combo set: FAFPAC+Provide First Aid HLTAID011.
If you’re still unsure, give us a call or email and we’ll help you work out which course is the best for you!
If there is a course you’d like to complete but there is no date scheduled, contact us using the contact form and let us know which course you would like to do. We often have had other enquiries about the same course and can schedule a date that suits all.
Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) will contain all our nationally recognised training records and results from January 1, 2015 onwards. Applying for your own USI number is relatively easy to do.
Go to www.usi.gov.au to apply. It’s quick and easy with step by step instructions on how to gain your USI number. For more information about the USI, go to allenstraining.com.au/students/student-handbook#USI
If you are a new student and have enrolled into the course correctly, you should be able to access the e-learning through your login or through an email sent direct to you to confirm you are enrolled. If you are a returning student and have a current certificate through Allens Training Pty Ltd, the system will recognised that this and if you have enrolled into a refresher course, there will be no online learning component.
Similarly, if you aren’t a returning student but you are enrolled into a refresher course such as Provide CPR HLTAID009, there is no online learning component.
If you prefer a paper-based workbook, contact us and we will send you a workbook at extra cost to cover postage.
Make sure to allow extra time for delivery and to complete the workbook!
For the majority of the courses, there are physical standards required in order to achieve competency when undertaking accredited training. For example, for all nationally recognised HLTAID first aid courses, to competently perform CPR, the assessment includes at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted effective CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. The Australian government requirements are clearly written in the Training Package and there are no exceptions. Students unable to satisfy the physical requirements won’t be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment even if this qualification is required by their employment or educational institution.
But, don’t despair! Our trainers are experienced and can suggest modifications to assist you to help you achieve competency. Our aim is to help you achieve and progress!
If you enrolled into a online blended course, you will need to have completed your online pre-course work in order to get your certificate. Makes sure you watch every video to the end, including the very last one!
If you attended a practical session with other people, even if one person from that group still needed to complete the online pre-course work, the session can’t be finalised and therefore, certificates can’t be issued. If this happens, your trainer will endeavour to ensure that everyone has done all the necessary components asap.
Once all the required components are completed and the necessary paperwork in submitted to Allens Training Pty Ltd, you will received your certificate via email.
In order to do the online course, you still need to show that you can do the practical component so you’ll need a CPR manikin as well as other training tools depending on which course you are enrolled in.
There is the option to purchase (which means you can keep it forever!) or to hire (you just need to pay extra for return postage).
